Peace Studies

The international M.A. in Peace Studies aims to train professional peacebuilders who are equipped with multi-perspectival peacebuilding lenses, conflict resolution skills, ethical capacity and sensitivity to local values and cultures. Our program provides a comprehensive foundation of peacebuilding knowledge and skills through 7 required courses and 6 elective courses, combining professional and academic skills, theories and experiential fieldwork.

Upon the completion of the degree requirements, students will become professional peacebuilders who are equipped with multi-perspectival peacebuilding lenses, conflict resolution skills, ethical capacity and sensitivity to local values and cultures. They will be able to (1) apply fundamental concepts, theories and principles of peacebuilding discipline to improve conflict resolution and peacebuilding practice in their own context and cross-cultural context; (2) analyze conflict from various dimensions and propose creative solutions to conflict with sensitivity to local values and cultures by using research as a basis for thinking; (3) demonstrate adherence to professional and ethical frameworks in peace research and practice; and (4) express the virtue of a disciplined, self-directed learning, creative and responsible leader and scholar in both academic work and peacebuilding profession.
