The research was honored to be reviewed by Assoc. Prof. Narawan Phoolpipat from the Faculty of Humanities, Chiang Mai University, and the project was overseen by Dr. Kanyarat Ueam-amphorn as the project director.
The presentation took place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Room BB, Benjabun Building, Payap University (Mae Khao Campus).

The International College of Payap University organized the “Preserving and Learning Thai Culture” project on Friday, April 25, 2025. The event featured a demonstration of traditional floral cone (called Suay Dok Mai in Lanna dialect) making for both Thai and international students, aiming to promote cultural learning and the preservation of Thailand’s unique heritage.
A Suay Dok Mai is a floral arrangement created by rolling banana leaves into a cone shape, then decorating the edges with intricately folded banana leaves according to traditional beliefs or the creativity of the artisan. These floral cones are used for paying respect to teachers, worshiping the Buddha, and offering during merit-making ceremonies. Materials used for making Suay Dok Mai are primarily natural, including banana leaves, wooden pins, and fresh flowers. Suay Dok Mai is one of the sacred offerings in Lanna culture, though today, its cultural significance is becoming less widely known. Therefore, the International College at Payap University takes pride in preserving and promoting this traditional art form. Although small in appearance, Suay Dok Mai plays a vital role in various ceremonies and represents a valuable aspect of Lanna identity—an embodiment of ancestral wisdom worth cherishing, preserving, and sharing for generations to come.#วิทยาลัยนานาชาติ #มหาวิทยาลัยพายัพ จัดโครงการ “สืบสานและเรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมไทย” เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 25 เมษายน 2568 โดยจัดกิจกรรมสาธิตการทำกรวยดอกไม้ให้แก่นักศึกษาไทยและต่างชาติ เพื่อส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้และสืบสานศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทยให้คงอยู่สืบไป กรวยดอกไม้ หรือ ภาษาล้านนาเรียกว่า “สวยดอกไม้” คือ กรวยใส่ดอกไม้ต่างๆ บรรจุลงในใบตองที่ม้วนเป็นกรวยและตกแต่งขอบ ด้วยกลีบใบตองที่พับเป็นแบบต่างๆตามความเชื่อหรือตามที่ผู้ประดิษฐ์คิดค้นตั้งชื่อขึ้นมา เพื่อใช้ในการไหว้ครู ใช้บูชาพระ และใช้ในการทําบุญต่างๆ ส่วนวัสดุ อุปกรณ์ ที่ใช้ทำกรวยดอกไม้นั้นส่วนใหญ่มาจากธรรมชาติ ได้แก่ ใบตอง, ไม้เข็มกลัด และดอกไม้กรวยดอกไม้ เป็นหนึ่งในเครื่องสักการะบูชาของชาวล้านนาที่ในปัจจุบันน้อยคนนักจะรู้ถึงคุณค่าและความสำคัญ วิทยาลัยนานาชาติ มหาวิทยาลัยพายัพจึงเป็นตัวแทนในการอนุรักษ์และเผยแพร่การทำสวยดอกไม้เพื่อไม่ให้หายไปจากวิถีแห่งวัฒนธรรมของคนล้านนา ถึงแม้ว่าสวยดอกไม้จะเป็นเพียงส่วนประกอบเล็กน้อยของพิธีกรรมหรือส่วนหนึ่งของเครื่องสักการะบูชา แต่สิ่งนี้คือหนึ่งในเอกลักษณ์ของล้านนาที่ถ่ายทอดและสั่งสมมาจากภูมิปัญญาของบรรพชนที่ควรค่าแก่การอนุรักษ์หวงแหนและเผยแพร่ให้เป็นที่แพร่หลายต่อไป

พิธีรดดำหัว และ การประกวดแต่งกายผ้าไทย เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 25 เมษายน 2568 ณ อาคารเบญจบรรณ มหาวิทยาลัยพายัพ (เขตแม่คาว)
The International College of Payap University organized the Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony and the Thai Traditional Costume Contest on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Benjabun Building, Payap University (Mae Khao Campus).The event was held to preserve Thailand’s cherished cultural traditions, to express respect and gratitude, and to seek blessings from senior faculty members in celebration of the Thai New Year.
The atmosphere throughout the event was warm, heartfelt, and deeply meaningful.
The continuation of the Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony and the traditional costume contest not only helped preserve Thailand’s treasured heritage but also reflected the love, bonds, and unity among the faculty and staff of the International College, as they work together to uphold and pass on these invaluable cultural traditions.
